The Barclays U21 Premier League resumes its full list of fixtures at the weekend with a number of clubs’ home grounds hosting fixtures for the first time.
During the international break, one match did take place, with Aston Villa being held 2-2 at home to Southampton.
The South Coast side are in action again on Friday as they head north to Newcastle United. Sammy Ameobi is set to continue his recovery from injury for the Magpies in the match at Whitley Park, in Benton. Newcastle season ticket-holders and members can go for free while tickets are £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. (More information here)
Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park will host a Lancashire derby in Group 1 against Bolton Wanderers on Friday evening. Kick-off is at 7pm and season ticket-holders can go for free, while adults can buy tickets for £4 at the gate or online and concessions for only £2. (More information here)
Blackburn U21 coach Gary Bowyer is looking forward to seeing how his charges perform on the bigger stage. "Playing in these stadiums gives us the opportunity to see how the players can handle these moments because ultimately this is where we want them to be playing every week," Bowyer said, adding that he may exploit the rule allowing three over-age outfield players to allow some first-teamers to gain much-needed game time.
After staging their previous match at Stamford Bridge Chelsea return to Brentford's Griffin Park - the venue of their first match, when more than 3,000 turned up - to take on Liverpool with both sides looking to maintain their unbeaten start. The Hawthorns stages its first U21 match on Sunday when West Bromwich Albion look to leapfrog West Ham United in Group 1 with a win against the Hammers. Season-ticket holders can awatch for free, while adult tickets are £5 and £1 for concessions. (Ticket information here)
On Monday, Arsenal look to maintain their 100% start at home to Norwich City. The match starts at 7pm and entry to Barnet FC's Underhill stadium is free. (More information here)
At the same time, Fulham seek their first Group 3 points at Motspur Park against Middlesbrough. Entry to the game is free to season ticket-holders. Non-season ticket-holder prices are £3 for adults and £1 for juniors. (More information here)
Wolverhampton Wanderers play their first home match at AFC Telford on Monday against Crystal Palace. Admission is £4 for adults, £1.50 for under 16s and Wolves season ticket-holders get in free. (More information here)
The next evening the Sports Direct Arena hosts its inaugural U21 match as Newcastle United defend their winning start to Group 2 against local rivals Sunderland, who are seeking their first win. It is a fixture that has brought much entertainment in the past with 16 goals being scored in their three meetings last season.
