Eight Barclays Premier League defenders have been shortlisted by FIFA and FIFPro for their annual World XI.
Gareth Bale, Ashley Cole, David Luiz, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Branislav Ivanovic, Vincent Kompany and John Terry have all been honoured for their performances in 2012 by being selected on the 20-man shortlist.
Chelsea's Petr Cech and Manchester City's Joe Hart were named on the goalkeeper shortlist earlier this week.
The 50,000 professional footballers belonging to the players' unions across the world that make up FIFPro are eligible to cast their vote.
The footballers have voted for the best goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards of 2012 with the World XI being revealed at the FIFA Ballon d’Or gala in Zurich on 7 January.
The shortlist of 15 midfielders and 15 forwards will be announced on 26 and 29 November respectively.
