All the build-up to the weekend's matches

Follow the press conferences, team news and head-to-head stats ahead of the weekend's matches

The race for European places and the battle to avoid the drop continue in earnest this weekend as the plot thickens in the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League campaign.

Nine of the clubs in action on Saturday still aim to be clear of the drop zone including Norwich City, who will be leapfrogged by Aston Villa should Paul Lambert's men resume the impressive form after rattling off six goals against Sunderland on Monday.

Newcastle United were also hit for six at the weekend and defeat at West Ham United in another of six 3pm kick-offs will not augur well for their survival. At the other end of the table Tottenham Hotspur need a win at home to Southampton to overtake provisionally North London rivals Arsenal, who travel to relegated Queens Park Rangers in the evening match.

On Sunday, Chelsea travel to Manchester United in a bid to keep the North London pack at bay as the race for Europe intensifies. Before that, at 1.30pm there is the Merseyside derby, which finds Everton hoping to make inroads into the top four reckoning by putting one over on Liverpool at Anfield, where they have not won since 1999.
