Fulham have completed the double signing of Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng and Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta.

The pair, who both join on free transfers, are Martin Jol's first signings following the conclusion of the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League season on Sunday.

Boateng, who has agreed a one-year contract with an option for a further year, previously played for Ukrainian side FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, and competed against his new employers in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League qualification round.

The 30-year-old midfielder spent two seasons with Spanish Liga side Getafe prior to his spell in Ukraine and has earned 46 caps for his country, including appearances in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.

Speaking to Fulham's official website, Boateng said: “I’m very happy that I have signed and I want to thank the chairman, the manager and the board at Fulham football club. I’ve been working hard to come here and I’ll do my best for the club."

Fulham also announced the arrival of centre-back Amorebieta on a four-year deal from La Liga side Athletic Bilbao. The 28-year-old has accumulated over 250 appearances in eight seasons with the Spanish side and, despite representing Spain's Under-19 team and winning the UEFA European Championship in 2004, has elected to play for his country of birth Venezuela at senior level.

His one goal in eight international caps came in a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the 2014 World Cup qualifying round.

"I'm delighted to have signed a four-year deal with Fulham and I'm looking forward to competing in the Barclays Premier League next season," he told the club's website."I'm impressed with the talent already at the club and I look forward to meeting the players for pre-season training in July."

Fulham signed off the 2012/13 Premier League season with a 3-0 away victory over Swansea City on the final day of the campaign, and finished 12th in the league table.
