Tickets for Barclays Asia Trophy 2013 go on sale

More than 50,000 tickets to be sold to local fans at affordable prices from 31 May

The Barclays Asia Trophy 2013 was launched in Hong Kong today with news that matchday tickets are to go on sale to the general public on Friday 31 May at 10am Hong Kong time.

The only Premier League-affiliated competition to be held outside England, the Barclays Asia Trophy 2013 will feature Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and South China, the 2012/13 champions of the Hong Kong First Division League. At the launch the line-up of the tournament was also revealed.

Tottenham and Sunderland will kick off the tournament at 6pm local time on Wednesday 24 July at the 40,000-seater Hong Kong Stadium. If the match can repeat the excitement of when the two teams last met, fans in Hong Kong will be in for a treat. Spurs edged past 10-man Sunderland on the final day of the 2012/13 season at White Hart Lane, but only thanks to a wonder goal from Gareth Bale in the final minute.

After this match, Manchester City, the Barclays Premier League champions of 2011/12 and runners-up last season, will take on South China, from 8.30pm.

The winners of the two matches will face each other three days later (27 July) in the same stadium at 8.30pm. This will follow a third-place play-off from 6pm between the two sides who lost on 24 July. All matches will be played over 90 minutes, going to a penalty shoot-out if the scores are level at full-time.

It has always been a principle of the Barclays Asia Trophy that tickets are affordable for fans locally and this year is no different.
