Hoops dreams for Sacred Heart School for girls

School to represent QPR in Under-13 girls category in Premier League Schools Tournament

A record number of girls from more than 20 schools took part in qualifying

A record number of girls battled it out for the chance to represent Queens Park Rangers in the Under-13 national Premier League Schools Tournament.

More than 20 schools across west London gathered at Goals, Alperton, last month to earn the right to wear the blue-and-white hoops in this year's finals at Anfield in May with Sacred Heart School, from Hammersmith, emerging the winners.

The qualifying tournament was organised by QPR in the Community Trust and over 200 girls took part, more than double last year's numbers.

“It was fantastic to see so many girls participating in this year’s tournament,” Alfie Ferguson, Community Development Assistant, told “We hit record numbers once again with nearly 200 girls battling it out.

“Congratulations to our winners Sacred Heart who, I’m sure, will do the club proud, as they compete against the other 19 Premier League clubs on the day.”

The Premier League Schools Tournament, which is in its eighth year, aims to increase participation and the numbers of teams and players has grown every season. Each of the 20 clubs stage their own competition to select a school to represent them in the finals. As well as Under-13s girls’ teams, there is an Under-11s boys' tournament with the same format taking place on the same day. will bring you the full draw shortly and will update you with the schools representing the 20 teams.
