Norwich City have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant paperwork being completed.
The 24-year old Dutch striker is set to arrive at Carrow Road on July 1 on a four-year contract. He has scored 82 goals in 188 appearances for Sporting, FC Utrecht and Vitesse Arnhem.
"He is a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England"
“Ricky’s profile is a perfect fit for us – he’s young, ambitious and a proven goalscorer,” Chris Hughton, the Norwich manager, told the Norwich website. “He is a young man very keen to continue his personal progression and to play in England. He’s already an exciting talent but he still has more development as a player ahead of him.
“I’m delighted we’ve been able to agree a deal with Sporting Lisbon and with Ricky and we look forward to welcoming him to the squad in July, once all of the paperwork gets sorted out.”
Van Wolfswinkel, who is 6ft 2in, joined Sporting from FC Utrecht in June 2011 and scored 25 goals in all competitions last season as well as 14 this campaign for a struggling side. At Utrecht in two seasons he scored 35 goals in 80 appearances.
