Samuel Fridjonsson, left, and Tomas Urbancic have been training at Reading
Reading have announced that they are set to sign two talented Icelanders in the summer after both were allowed to train with the Royals for the remainder of the season.
Tomas Urbancic, 16, and Samuel Fridjonsson, 17, have linked up with the club’s Academy early, ahead of agreed moves to in the summer. Fridjonsson, who is with Icelandic Premier League side Keflavik, can play in defence or midfield and has represented his country at under-19 level. He will join Reading on a two-year deal which will be completed once the transfer window reopens and international clearance can be secured.
Urbancic is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing and will initially join from Vikingur on a two-year scholarship contract before spending a further season on a professional deal, keeping him at Reading until 2016.
The journey that Urbancic and Fridjonsson will make is similar to that made by Gylfi Sigurdsson, who joined Reading as a 15-year-old in 2005. To learn more about Sigurdsson's journey from Iceland to the Barclays Premier League, watch this video.
