Sunday review: Chelsea up to third as Tottenham stumble

Read match reports, manager reactions, minute-by-commentary and photos from today's matches

  • Fulham's Dimitar Berbatov scores against his former club Tottenham Hotspur

  • Chelsea's Frank Lampard scores his 200th goal for Chelsea against his old side West Ham

  • Jean Beausejour slides in Wigan Athletic's goal against Newcastle United

Chelsea are up to third place in the Barclays Premier League  after overcoming West Ham United at Stamford Bridge after Tottenham Hotspur lost at home against Fulham.

Rafa Benitez’s side leapfrogged Tottenham into third place after completing a 2-0 victory against West Ham, thanks to goals in either half by Frank Lampard and Eden Hazard.

In the first of today's London derbies Fulham pulled off a surprise at White Hart Lane, inflicting a second successive Barclays Premier League defeat upon Tottenham, thanks to a goal by former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov.

There was late drama at the DW Stadium where Wigan Athletic boosted their prospects of avoiding relegation with a 2-1 triumph against Newcastle United. The Magpies must have thought they had done enough to earn a point after Davide Santon cancelled out Jean Beausejour’s first-half strike on 72 minutes. But Arouna Kone scrambled home a last-minute winner to seal three points to take the Latics, who have a game in hand on their immediate rivals, to within three points of safety.

Earlier today Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Norwich City.
