West Ham United and Manchester United fought out a goalless draw at the Boleyn Ground in their Elite Group match in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League.
That there were no goals was not through want of trying from either side. Having conceded two late goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers this week West Ham would have been relieved not to have let Manchester United repeat their late heroics against Liverpool in their previous match.
The point moved Manchester United to third, above Southampton on goal difference and a point behind Liverpool. The two sides meet again at Altrincham on Wednesday.

In Group 1, Fulham secured their second win in less than a week when Lasse Vigen Christensen’s goal was enough to beat Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
Fulham manager Kit Symons played Simon Davies and Eyong Enoh as his overage players and was pleased with the win. “We played particularly well in the first half and created a lot of chances throughout,” Symons said. “The second half was a little sloppy.
“We had Simon in there tonight, and it was great for the boys to play alongside someone like that – someone that has so much enthusiasm for the game. His professionalism stands for everyone to see.”
