Tottenham swoop for Icelander Sigurdsson

Spurs sign attacking midfielder who was on loan at Swansea City last season

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored seven goals in 18 Barclays Premier League matches for Swansea

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Iceland attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from German side Hoffenheim.

The 22-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Swansea City, becomes new head coach Andre Villas-Boas's first signing.

Sigurdsson made a quick impact in the Barclays Premier League, producing a string of impressive displays and scoring seven goals in 18 appearances.

He also won the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award for March, becoming the first Swansea City player to receive the honour.

Sigurdsson started his career with Reading, scoring 18 league goals, and winning the Player of the Year in his only full season in the Royals first team.

He joined Hoffenheim in 2010.
