Pienaar seals Everton return

South African midfielder is back at Goodison Park after signing four-year deal

Midfielder Steven Pienaar impressed during his loan spell with Everton last season

Midfielder Steven Pienaar has secured his return to Everton on a permanent basis.

The 30-year-old South Africa has signed a four-year deal after Everton agreed a fee of £4.5m with Tottenham Hotspur.

"I am happy to be here," he told Everton's official website. "It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton.

Pienaar first came to Everton in 2007 from Borussia Dortmund and had a successful four years at Goodison Park before joining Spurs in January 2011.

He struggled to secure a first-team place at White Hart Lane and was loaned back to Everton in January of this year.

Pienaar made 14 Barclays Premier League appearances in his second spell with the Toffees, scoring four times including his side's fourth goal in the memorable 4-4 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford in April.
