Man City too strong for Arsenal in China

Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure on target for City in the Bird's Nest Stadium

Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta celebrates his goal against Arsenal in Beijing

Manchester City 2-0 Arsenal

Manchester City scored two late first-half goals to claim a pre-season friendly victory over Barclays Premier League rivals Arsenal at a sodden Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.

City punished Arsenal for not taking their early opportunities when Pablo Zabaleta latched on to Yaya Toure's pass to fire home on 41 minutes.

The lead was doubled four minutes later when Toure scored from close range with the Arsenal defenders appealing for offside.

Arsene Wenger's charges looked brighter after the break despite the torrential rain but could not break through Man City's defence with the lively Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hitting both posts with a shot from outside the box.
