Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have reached agreement with Schalke for the immediate transfer of midfielder Lewis Holtby.
The Germany Under-21 captain, who has three senior caps, had initially agreed to join Andre Villas-Boas's side in the summer but the Barclays Premier League club decided to bring the move forward in order for the 22-year-old to aid their bid to secure UEFA Champions League football next season.
The versatile midfielder joined Schalke in 2009 from Alemannia Aachen and was loaned out to Bochum and Mainz prior to making his breakthrough with the Gelsenkirchen-based club.
Holtby, who has an English father, has made 160 appearances in his career to date, including 18 appearances in the German top-flight this season. He has scored 29 goals in total, four of them in the Bundesliga this campaign, and also appeared in all six of Schalke’s recent Champions League group matches, including two encounters with Arsenal.
Everton have announced that they have agreed a deal with Dutch side FC Twente for the transfer of midfielder Leroy Fer.
The 23-year-old, who has won two caps for the Netherlands, will now travel to Merseyside for a medical and to discuss personal terms.
Fer began his senior career with Feyenoord before he joined FC Twente in 2011. This season he has scored three goals in 12 appearances to help Twente move to second in the Eredivisie table.
He will become Everton's first signing of the January transfer window.
Wigan Athletic striker Mauro Boselli has joined Palermo on loan until the end of the season.
The Argentinian was on loan in Serie A at Genoa last season and this agreement includes an option for Palermo to buy at the end of the term.
Boselli joined Wigan from Estudiantes in the summer of 2010 and has made 18 appearances in the Barclays Premier League, but has yet to register a goal, but has five goals in other competitions.
