Queens Park Rangers salute troops with free tickets

Tribute paid to Armed Forces with Ticket for Troops for Barclays Premier League match

QPR are recognising the sacrifice made by the Armed Forces

Queens Park Rangers have joined forces with Tickets For Troops to offer free tickets to members of the British Armed Forces and their families for their Barclays Premier League match against Norwich City next weekend.

The tickets were made available to servicemen and women and those medically discharged from the forces since 2001, on the military charity’s website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.

"This gesture shows our appreciation for everyone in the forces who are out there serving our country"
Philip Beard

"Tickets For Troops is a fantastic initiative and this gesture shows our appreciation for everyone in the forces who are out there serving our country," QPR chief executive Philip Beard, told the club's website. "We recognise the very special job they do on behalf of all of us and this is a great way of saying thank you.

"We are always delighted to support them and we look forward to welcoming them to Loftus Road."

The Tickets For Troops scheme was launched just over three years ago and since then more than 300,000 tickets have been given to members of the Armed Forces and the Premier League and its 20 Clubs have been involved since the 2009/10 season, not only giving away tickets but by donating perimeter board and match programme space to the charity, as well as making stadium announcements.

This is part of a longstanding relationship that the Premier League has with the Armed Forces with thousands of serving personnel following match action around the world, which is provided for the British Forces Broadcast Service for free.

"It is constantly humbling to see the waves of organisations generously supporting Tickets For Troops and ultimately showing their appreciation to the servicemen and women who work so tirelessly to protect our freedom," said Tickets For Troops Chairman, Lord Marland.

"We have seen first-hand what these tickets mean to troops and it is clear that Ticket For Troops is making a huge difference in boosting morale.

"It is a pleasure and an honour to be able to help reward these extraordinary, courageous and brave people for all their hard work and sacrifices."

There are a limited number of general sale tickets for QPR's match with Norwich on Saturday 2 February, as well as the match against the reigning Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City at Loftus Road on Tuesday 29 January. For more information click here.
