Daniel Carrico played against Manchester City last season
Reading have announced that they have agreed a deal for Sporting Lisbon captain Daniel Carrico.
The 24-year-old can play in midfield and defence and has agreed a deal through to June 2015, with an option for a further year. The former Portugal Under-21 player made only two appearances for Sporting this season because of a dispute over his contract there, which was due to end at the season’s end.
He becomes the first signing of the January transfer window in the Barclays Premier League and is familiar with playing English sides, having faced Manchester City in the UEFA Europa League last season.
Sunderland's South Korean forward Ji Dong-won has joined Bundesliga side Augsburg on loan until the end of the season, the Barclays Premier League club have confirmed.
The 21-year-old made 21 appearances for Sunderland last season, scoring two goals, but has been little used by Martin O'Neill this season.
