Michu has given Swansea City a boost by signing a new four-year contract that commits him to the club until 2016.
The 26-year-old Spaniard has been an instant hit at the Liberty Stadium since being brought to Wales from Rayo Vallecano by manager Michael Laudrup last summer.
"I'm really happy here in the city with the people, the club and the fans"
Michu joined for £2.2m on a three-year deal after impressing last season in La Liga with 15 goals, the most for a midfielder in the competition, and he has maintained his eye-catching form in the Barclays Premier League.
He has scored 16 goals in all competitions to help Swansea move into ninth place in the League and reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
They lead Chelsea 2-0 after the first leg of the semi-final at Stamford Bridge with the second leg taking place on Wednesday night.
"It was an easy decision for me," Michu told the club's official website after agreeing a one-year contract extension.
"I am living a dream here at Swansea. I'm probably enjoying my football more than ever. It's easy to play with this team and tonight I have the chance to reach the first final of my career.
"I'm really happy here in the city with the people, the club and the fans. Everyone has been so nice to me since I arrived.
"I think the club are happy with me because they have given me a new contract. I am certainly happy with the club."
West Ham United defender Guy Demel has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Boleyn Ground until 2015.
The 31-year-old Ivorian joined West Ham from Hamburg in 2011 and has become a key member of the first-team squad, making 16 Barclays Premier League appearances this season.
"I hope I will stay that long to play in the new stadium"
"It's really good for me and I'm really happy to have a new deal with West Ham," he told the club's website. "I've had a good year this season, and even last year was good, despite that I was injured for so long and struggled a bit.
"I hope I will stay that long to play in the new stadium as well. I feel good and I'm quite happy with what I'm doing right now, but I know that I can do even more."
Demel should be involved when West Ham travel to the Emirates Stadium for Wednesday night's Barclays Premier League encounter with Arsenal.
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure and Arsenal striker Gervinho were on target as Ivory Coast opened their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 2-1 win over Togo.
Toure opened the scoring after only eight minutes with a deflected shot from inside the area after some nice work from Gervinho down the right.
The midfielder almost doubled the lead but his powerful strike came back off the post while Togo, who had Tottenham Hotspur's Emmanuel Adebayor leading the line, equalised through Jonathan Ayite on the stroke of half-time.
Gervinho had the final say with two minutes to go, volleying in at the far post after a deep free-kick from Toure deceived the Togo defence.
Of the other Barclays Premier League Ivorian contingent, Manchester City's Kolo Toure played the whole match, Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote came on for the final 27 minutes while Wigan Athletic's Arouna Kone and Manchester City's Abdul Razak were unused replacements.
