Barclays U21s: Tottenham triumph in north London derby

Jack Munns scores twice as Spurs claim local bragging rights and stay undefeated in Elite Group

  • Dombaxe Laste scores a penalty to give Tottenham a 2-1 lead against Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their grip on the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Elite Group with a 4-2 north London derby victory against Arsenal at Bull's Cross.

Though the Gunners took an early lead through Chuba Akpom, who fired in from the edge of the penalty area, the hosts turned the match around in the space of two second-half minutes with Zeki Fryers levelling the match and Laste Dombaxe scoring from the penalty spot.

Jack Munns extended Tottenham’s lead 10 minutes after the restart before Akpom grabbed his second of the afternoon midway through the second half. However, the Gunners' resistance was broken when Munns completed his brace to earn his side a fifth win in six matches.

Tottenham are now seven points clear of Liverpool, who have two games in hand, while Arsenal, who have yet to register a win in the Second Phase of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League, have slipped to seventh place in the table with two points from four matches.
