Manchester United will play a friendly in Sydney against the Australian A-League All Stars as part of the club’s pre-season tour next summer.
The match at the Sydney ANZ Stadium on 20 July will be preceded by six days of training and will constitute the fifth visit United have made to the nation. The first was in 1967 and the team last played there in 1999.
"The game and training camp that will take place in Sydney will be an important part of the team’s preparation for the 2013/14 season," United chief executive David Gill said. "There are three main reasons we go on pre-season tour. First and foremost is the team’s preparation for the season ahead. But the tour also allows us to engage with our global fan base and network of commercial partners.
“It has been a while since we last visited Sydney and we are looking forward to renewing our relationship with our loyal and enthusiastic Australian fans."
Tickets will be on general sale from 09:00 AEDT on Wednesday 12 December (22:00 GMT on Tuesday 11 December) at www.footballaustralia.com.au/manutd.
Arsenal are another Barclays Premier League to have revealed part of their pre-season plans with the intention to play in Indonesia in the summer.
