Ward signs new Wolves deal

Versatile defender extends stay at Molineux until 2015

Stephen Ward has scored twice in 11 Barclays Premier League matches so far this season

Wolves defender Stephen Ward has committed his future to the Barclays Premier League Club by signing a new three-and-a-half year contract.

The deal means Republic of Ireland international Ward, 26, will now be staying at Molineux until the summer of 2015.

"We are all delighted that Wardy has extended his contract," said Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, who signed the left-sided player from Irish outfit Bohemians in January 2007.

"He has earned a new deal by the manner of his performances. Since arriving from Bohemians he has just got better and better and he is a top professional who never stops working."

Ward, who has played in all 11 of Wolves' Barclays Premier League games this season and scored twice, added: "I'm happy to have signed the new contract and I'm looking forward to helping Wolves move up the league table."
