Michael Owen has suffered a number of injuries since joining Manchester United
Michael Owen faces a spell on the sidelines after limping out of Manchester United's 2-0 win over Otelul Galati in the Uefa Champions League.
The former England striker was handed a rare start by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson on Wednesday but lasted just 10 minutes before tweaking a thigh muscle.
Ferguson admitted he had sympathy for the injury-prone forward.
"It's a blow for the lad," said the Scot. "He's done a thigh muscle and it's a complete freak.
"It's a tragedy, I feel for him. It's difficult to say how long-term it is, we'll have to assess him."
Owen has made only four appearances for United so far this term, scoring twice in the Carling Cup win at Leeds and then again in the same competition at Aldershot.
