James McFadden left Birmingham City last season and re-joins Everton as a free agent
Scotland international James McFadden has re-signed for Everton three years after leaving Goodison.
McFadden had been without a club since being released by Birmingham in the summer but has joined the Toffees on a free transfer until the end of the season.
He had trained with Wolverhampton Wanderers and both Mick McCarthy's side and Scottish side Celtic were keen on signing the 28-year-old.
However, McFadden has opted to link up again with David Moyes on Merseyside in the hope of resurrecting a career recently hit by injury.
McFadden originally joined Everton from Motherwell in 2003 and scored 11 times in 109 appearances.
He joined Birmingham for £5m and scored 13 times in 82 matches until a cruciate knee ligament injury curtailed his involvement last season.
McFadden was released following Birmingham's relegation in May but has returned to fitness.
