Marveaux set for four months out

Newcastle winger undergoes operation in the United States

Marveaux has made six Barclays Premier League appearances this season

Newcastle winger Sylvain Marveaux is likely to be sidelined for up to four months after having surgery in the United States.

Marveaux, who was injured in the 2-1 win over Everton on 5th November, had an operation on his right hip and groin on Monday.

The 25-year-old will return to Newcastle next week to undergo an intensive rehabilitation programme.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said: "Marveaux had a successful operation in America, so we are really pleased about that, and we think that will be three to four months - perhaps four months."
