Fellaini signs new deal with Everton

Belgian midfielder commits to Goodison Park until summer 2016

Everton's Marouane Fellaini signed from Standard Liege for £15m in 2008

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has signed a new five-year contract with the Club.

The new deal ties the 23-year-old Belgian midfielder to Goodison Park until the summer of 2016.

There had been rumours about Fellaini's future at Everton, although Toffees boss David Moyes was always confident he could keep the player.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of Marouane for the long term," chief executive Robert Elstone told the official club website.

"As everyone is aware these negotiations have been ongoing for some time but both parties remained positive that we would reach agreement.

"Marouane has been a hugely influential player for Everton since his arrival in 2008 and we hope that remains to be the case for the next five years."

Fellaini signed from Standard Liege for £15m and has impressed in central midfield this season, having overcome injury problems in the past two campaigns.
