The Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour has moved on to China's two biggest cities, Shanghai and Beijing.
The Shanghai leg of the tour, which takes place at the Shanghai Stadium from 14th-16th October, has already broken existing records with over 5,000 fans registering to visit. Online registrations have closed for Shanghai, but there will be places available to fans to walk up during the daily opening times between 2pm and 10pm.
Shanghai and Beijing will also welcome reigning Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United, who will have a new interactive exhibition at the venue.
The Premier League's Chinese licensee Super Sports Media will also be holding big screen ticketed events to show keenly anticipated Barclays Premier League matches, between Liverpool v Manchester United (Shanghai) and Chelsea v Arsenal (Beijing).
The venue in Beijing will be outside the Bird's Nest Stadium, where both the Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour and Manchester United experience will be based from 28th-30th October. More information and registration for the Beijing leg can be found at http://www.bpltrophytour.com after 17th October.
The Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour is a free interactive experience and will take fans through four domes:
- The Changing Room - packed with unique interactive features, this is a fact-based tour through the history of the 20 Barclays Premier League Clubs.
- The Centre Circle - supporters will experience the noise and excitement of a match day before learning all about the winning teams and captains of the Premier League.
- The Trophy Room - fans can get up close to the official Barclays Premier League Trophy.
- Becoming the Third Lion - through green screen technology, supporters will be able to picture themselves lifting the Barclays Premier League Trophy.
The Barclays Premier League is the biggest continuous annual global sporting event in the world with an audience that grows each year. Every match-day is now broadcast to more than 643 million households in 212 territories.
The Barclays Premier League Tour offers an opportunity for fans around the globe that may never get the chance to attend Barclays Premier League football in England to have a behind the scenes experience of the teams and players that they follow so passionately.
After fans have been through the Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour they will also have the opportunity to take part in another Barclays Premier League event, the Champions 19 Experience. It recreates the story of Manchester United's achievement of winning 19 League titles and there will be the chance to get up close and personal with some historic Manchester United memorabilia.
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore said: "We are excited about joining Barclays and Super Sports Media in bringing the Trophy Tour to China for the first time.
"With the Trophy Tour we want to show football fans in China even more of what is at the heart of our competition: the Trophy itself, as that is what every player and manager competes to get their hands on; the fantastic football as played by our 20 Clubs, because that is what excites hundreds of millions week-in, week-out; and the history and tradition of English football, as that is what helps create the huge interest in the competition."
Passion for football
Robert Morrice, Chairman and Chief Executive of Barclays in Asia Pacific, said: "The Barclays Asia Trophy tournament came to China in 2009 so we are well aware of the passion for football that there is among the Chinese people.
"We are therefore delighted that we have been able to work with the Premier League to bring the Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour to China and look forward to sharing the experience with thousands of Chinese football fans."
After Shanghai and Beijing, the Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour will then appear in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok during January and February 2012, continuing on to the United States of America, India and South Africa later on in the year.
