Arsenal's Jenkinson in dreamland

Teenage Gunners defender admits he is loving life playing for boyhood idols

Carl Jenkinson has played Premier League and Champions League matches for the Gunners

Arsenal teenager Carl Jenkinson is struggling to come to terms with the fact he is playing in the Premier League for his boyhood idols.

In the past 12 months the 19-year-old has gone from non-league to playing first-team football at Premier League and Champions League level for the Gunners.

Jenkinson joined the Gunners from League One side Charlton Athletic during the summer, having had a spell at Blue Square Bet Premier side Eastbourne.

"Sometimes I just have to take a step back and really appreciate where I am," said Jenkinson. "For me to come from where I was to playing in the Premier League is obviously a big achievement for me.

"But the main thing I have to pinch myself about is that I'm actually playing for Arsenal. I can't really portray how special that is for a fan of the Club and for someone who comes from a family that loves Arsenal so much.

"It's just a great thing to be becoming a part of Arsenal's history. Long may it continue."
