Ruddy: Norwich will get stronger

Canaries keeper confident club can build on impressive return to Barclays Premier League

Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy says he expects the Canaries to be 'fitter and stronger' next season.

The East Anglian club impressed on their return to the Barclays Premier League, finishing 12th, only five points behind eighth-placed Liverpool.

Ruddy's form during the season earned him a call-up to Roy Hodgson's England squad for the summer's European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.

The 25-year-old said he remained optimistic about the club's chances next season.

"I just think as long as we have got the same spirit that's in the squad at the moment, then we can replicate what we have done this year and that's what we will aim to do," he said.

"I know everyone to a man will make sure they come back stronger and fitter than last season, and make sure we are ready to go again."

Ruddy added: "The main aim is to stay in the league. If we do that by doing exactly what we've done this year, then so be it.

"It doesn't matter. Everyone wants improvement every year, but when you are in this League it's just about staying in it."
