Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) has been nominated for the Sport Industry Awards 2012.
The initiative - a joint venture between the Premier League, Sports England and the Youth Sport Trust - has been shortlisted in the Community Programme Award category.
Launched in 2009, PL4S was funded by a £3.8m investment through the Premier League Creating Chances programme in partnership with the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
The programme has inspired more than 39,300 youngsters across the country to try out a new sport and it has proved to be such a success that the Barclays Premier League has committed to another £2m of funding.
Nick Keller, Chairman of the Sport Industry Group, said: "Being named on the Official Shortlist for the Sport Industry Awards is definitive proof that a team, brand or organisation's work has been amongst the very best in its field across an entire year.
"Over the past 11 years we have seen some truly incredible campaigns honoured at the Sport Industry Awards, and when the industry comes together on 2nd May we will once again be celebrating a fantastic year for the UK sports business."
A rigorous two-week steering process involved more than 40 key figures from across the industry and 50 hours of intensive judging, overseen by Deloitte, the Official Independent Scrutineer of the Sport Industry Awards.
The shortlists now go forward for consideration by the main Judging Panel, who will decide the winners in each category, and the winners will be announced at the ceremony on 2nd May.
