Dzeko sends Man City three points clear

First-half goal at Wigan enough for leaders to re-establish gap at top

Man City striker Edin Dzeko climbs highest to glance his team in front at Wigan

Wigan Athletic 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City re-established their three-point lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League courtesy of victory away at bottom club Wigan.

City striker Edin Dezko scored the only goal of the match halfway through the first half, glancing in a header from David Silva's deadly left-wing free-kick.

Dzeko and Sergio Aguero both went close to scoring a second and after Joe Hart saved brilliantly from Wigan's James McCarthy, City held on for a crucial victory.
