Bale: Spurs can test Man City

Winger says Tottenham have progressed since defeat to City at start of season

Bale has scored seven Barclays Premier League goals so far this season

Tottenham star Gareth Bale has praised the quality of Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester City - but says his club has the ability to upset them in Sunday's League match at the Etihad Stadium.

City enjoyed a 5-1 win at White Hart Lane in August as Roberto Mancini's side enjoyed a lightning start to the season, but Spurs have hit brilliant form since then and are keeping pace in the title race.

"We've come a long way since the start of the season."
- Gareth Bale

"It will be a big game and one we're looking forward to. There is no reason why we can't pull off a result there," said Bale.

"City still have a great squad and a great team and no matter what team they put out it will be difficult to play against.

"It wasn't a great start to the season losing to the two Manchester clubs, but all the lads have shown what a great spirit we have here and the determination we have. We've come a long way since then.

"We know we have to play our best football to beat them - they gave us a lesson at home at the start of the season.

"They started the season very well which wasn't good for us, but we bounced back. I'm sure it will be a great game."
