Man City stun Porto but Stoke beaten

City come from behind to win in Portugal, but Topal's stunning strike sinks Stoke

Manchester City were the winners of a tough match in Portugal

FC Porto 1-2 Manchester City

Sergio Aguero scored the winner as Manchester City produced a brilliant comeback to beat Porto in the away leg of their Europa League last 32 tie.

The Europa League holders took the lead against the Barclays Premier League leaders when Silvestre Varela nipped in to guide Hulk's cross past Joe Hart.

Micah Richards hit the post for City before Mario Balotelli leapt with Alvaro Pereira to reach a long pass, with the ball coming off the Uruguayan's shoulder and bouncing into the net.

And in the closing stages, Aguero pounced on Yaya Toure's cross amid chaos in the home defence to seal an excellent victory.

Stoke City 0-1 Valencia

A sensational strike from Mehmet Topal was enough to give Valencia a victory at Stoke which leaves Tony Pulis's side facing an uphill task in the second leg.

Topal smashed in to the top corner from 35 yards to secure victory for the Spanish side ahead of next week's return at the Mestalla.
