Arsenal considering loan move

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may look to bring in defender

Defender Kieran Gibbs has not played since mid-October

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he may have to bring in a defender on loan to cover for absent full-back Kieran Gibbs.

Left-back Gibbs has not featured since the win over Sunderland in mid-October and his comeback has been delayed because of a stomach injury.

"We are starting to look at players if Gibbs is not back"

Arsenal's options at full-back have been depleted in recent months, with Andre Santos and Carl Jenkinson also unavailable because of injuries.

While Bacary Sagna is closer to a first-team return, Frenchman Wenger admitted he may be forced to make a move when the transfer window opens on 1 January.

"It depends now on Gibbs," he told Arsenal Player. "He sees a specialist again and if something happens there that he has had a real setback then possibly, yes.

"It is not a shop, you just take a good opportunity that is on the market when you can. Overall that's what we are doing at the moment. We are starting to look at players if Gibbs is not back."
