Torres hat-trick helps sink QPR

Chelsea forward completes fine week by leading side to convincing win

Chelsea forward Fernando Torres completed his hat-trick midway through the second half

Chelsea 6-1 Queens Park Rangers

A Fernando Torres hat-trick helped Chelsea make it a miserable afternoon for west London rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Torres followed up his crucial goal away to Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek with three clinical finishes at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea closed the gap on fourth-place Newcastle to a point.

Daniel Sturridge had put Chelsea in front after just 45 seconds and John Terry headed in a second before Torres took centre stage, while Florent Malouda added a sixth goal for the hosts.

QPR, who got a late consolation through Djibril Cisse, remain above the relegation places on goal difference, with two matches remaining in their season.
