Stalemate for Sunderland and Tottenham

Neither side can find a breakthrough in goalless draw at the Stadium of Light

Neither Sunderland nor Tottenham could find a breakthrough at the Stadium of Light

Sunderland 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur were frustrated by Sunderland on Saturday as they try to cement a place in the top four in the Barclays Premier League.

Spurs had to settle for a point at the Stadium of Light despite having most of the play, as the Black Cats defended doggedly and kept the visitors at bay.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto clipped the outside of the post from 30 yards, Luka Modric forced a save from Simon Mignolet and Gareth Bale headed on to the roof of the net, as Spurs could not find a breakthrough.
