Odemwingie fires Baggies to win at Anfield

Liverpool left to rue host of missed chances as West Brom secure famous victory at Anfield

Liverpool pressed, but it was West Bromwich Albion who secured the points

Liverpool 0-1 West Bromwich Albion

Peter Odemwingie scored the only goal as West Bromwich Albion won at Liverpool for the first time since 1967 - but the Reds will rue a host of missed chances.

Glen Johnson's slip let in Odemwingie on 75 minutes, and the forward fired past Jose Reina to score.

But Kenny Dalglish's men saw a bounty of opportunities go begging, with Jordan Henderson hitting the underside of the crossbar and Dirk Kuyt seeing a low shot strike the inside of the post.

The home side had 28 shots in total, but slumped to a third home defeat in the Barclays Premier League this seasons against a Baggies' side which moves into the top 10.
