Dempsey earns Fulham draw with Chelsea

Lampard penalty cancelled out by Cottagers' top scorer eight minutes from time

Fulham's Clint Dempsey heads in a late equaliser against Chelsea at Craven Cottage

Fulham 1-1 Chelsea

Clint Dempsey scored his 16th Barclays Premier League goal of the season to earn Fulham a draw in a high-quality west London derby against Chelsea at Craven Cottage.

Frank Lampard had given Chelsea a first-half lead with his 150th League goal, the midfielder firing in from the penalty spot after Stephen Kelly was adjudged to have fouled Salomon Kalou.

Chelsea keeper Petr Cech made two stunning saves to deny Kerim Frei and Aaron Hughes, but the Cottagers got themselves back on level terms when Dempsey glanced in a header from a corner in the 82nd minute.
