Monday's Barclays Premier League round-up

Newcastle win fifth successive match, while Norwich win at Tottenham

Hatem Ben Arfa scores a quite majestic opening goal for Newcastle against Bolton

Newcastle United 2-0 Bolton Wanderers

Hatem Ben Arfa's sensational solo goal lit up the Sports Direct Arena as Newcastle's remarkable season in the Barclays Premier League continued with victory against Bolton.

The Frenchman burst into life in the 73rd minute, running from inside his own half past several defenders before poking the ball past Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.

Trotters' winger Chris Eagles had been denied by a wonderful Tim Krul save, and Newcastle doubled their advantage when Shola Ameobi crossed for Papiss Cisse to bundle in to leave Bolton in trouble towards the foot of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Norwich City

Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the top four suffered a setback as they were beaten at home by Norwich City.

The Canaries took a shock lead in the 13th minute, a ball into the Spurs box causing mayhem and Anthony Pilkington firing past Brad Friedel.

Spurs levelled when Jake Livermore slid a pass through for Jermain Defoe to expertly clip home, but after Gareth Bale shot against the Norwich bar, the visitors grabbed the points when Elliott Bennett hammered in from 20 yards.

Everton 4-0 Sunderland

Everton produced a staggering second-half performance to blow Sunderland away at Goodison Park.

Stephane Sessegnon acrobatically volleyed wide for the visitors, before Everton took the lead when Leon Osman's shot was saved by Simon Mignolet and Magaye Gueye smashed the rebound in from a tight angle.

Two brilliant goals in a minute wrapped up the points as Steven Pienaar fired superbly into the far corner and then, moments later, Osman almost replicated his goal with another fine strike past Mignolet.

Victor Anichebe slammed in a fourth courtesy of a deflection to round off the scoring late on as Everton moved four points clear of Liverpool in seventh.
