Saturday's Barclays Premier League round-up

Chelsea leave it late to beat Wigan, while Bolton and Blackburn both lose

Juan Mata bundles in a late winner for Chelsea against Wigan at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea 2-1 Wigan Athletic

Chelsea left it until injury time to seal victory over Wigan and keep up the pressure on the top four in the Barclays Premier League.

The Blues were denied by some stunning Ali Al-Habsi saves in the first half, but they took the lead after the break when Branislav Ivanovic bundled in from close range.

Wigan equalised with eight minutes left when Mohamed Diame slammed in a left-foot shot from 18 yards, but Chelsea broke their hearts in stoppage time when Fernando Torres' superb volley struck a post, hit Juan Mata and flew over the line.

Bolton Wanderers 0-3 Fulham

Bolton's recent revival was halted at the Reebok Stadium by a brilliant Fulham display, with US international Clint Dempsey in wonderful form.

The Cottagers made much the brighter start and they went in front when Dempsey slammed a stunning 30-yard free-kick into the top corner of Adam Bogdan's net.

Dempsey headed in a Damien Duff cross to double the lead and as Bolton pressed forward, Mahamadou Diarra stole in to convert John Arne Riise's centre and make it 3-0.

Liverpool 1-1 Aston Villa

Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez rescued a draw for Liverpool as they were frustrated at Anfield once more, this time by a hard-working Aston Villa side.

Villa went in front early on, a neat passing move ending with Barry Bannan teeing up Chris Herd to coolly side-foot past Liverpool keeper Alexander Doni.

Liverpool threw everything at Villa with Suarez heading against the post, but he nodded in from a yard with eight minutes remaining as Kenny Dalglish's side avoided defeat.

Norwich City 2-2 Everton

Norwich pegged Everton back twice as Carrow Road as the two sides shared a thrilling draw in the Barclays Premier League.

The in-form Toffees edged ahead when Phil Jagielka crossed for Nikica Jelavic to fire home, but Norwich levelled when Wes Hoolahan centred for Jonny Howson to tuck past Tim Howard.

Everton regained the lead when Jelavic converted Steven Pienaar's left-wing ball in, but Grant Holt kept his cool to sweep in another equaliser late on.

West Bromwich Albion 3-0 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn's hopes of survival suffered a setback at the Hawthorns as they succumbed to an impressive West Brom performance.

The Baggies went in front after only seven minutes when Gareth McAuley's header was deflected into his own net by Blackburn defender Martin Olsson.

The visitors doubled their lead when Marc-Antoine Fortune scored from close range, before Liam Ridgewell headed in a Graham Dorrans cross to wrap up the points.
