Premierleague.com rifles through the annals of the Barclays Premier League to find significant events.
Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of England international midfielder David Bentley from Blackburn Rovers.
Then 23 years of age, the winger had attracted Tottenham Hotspur's attention after making 102 Barclays Premier League appearances and scoring 13 goals in three seasons with Blackburn, including a hat-trick in a 4-3 win over Manchester United in 2006.
Bentley, who had came through Arsenal's academy system and played in the top flight with Norwich City in the 2004/05 campaign, also won six England caps during his spell with Blackburn.
In his first full season at White Hart Lane, Bentley helped Spurs finish eighth in the Premier League table. His one league goal that season came in spectacular style, as he scored a 40-yard volley in a thrilling 4-4 draw with North London rivals Arsenal.
In the 2009/10 season, Bentley played 15 times as Harry Redknapp's side finished fourth and qualified for the UEFA Champions League. Overall, the winger made 42 League appearances for Spurs, scoring three times.
