Premierleague.com rifles through the annals of the Barclays Premier League to find significant events.
Aston Villa striker Dalian Atkinson scored a stunning goal at Plough Lane that helped his side record a 3-2 victory over Wimbledon.
Atkinson, who had joined Villa in 1991 after spells at Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Real Sociedad, made his memorable contribution with 13 minutes to go after two goals from fellow striker Dean Saunders had given the visitors a 2-1 lead.
He picked up the ball in his own half and immediately went on a surging run into Wimbledon territory, skipping past two defenders.
As he approached the penalty area, Atkinson looked up and suddenly slowed before producing a perfectly judged chip that gave goalkeeper Hans Segers no chance.
The goal secured the three points for Ron Atkinson's team, even though Wimbledon did get a goal back through Andy Clarke, while it was also named as the BBC Match of the Day Goal of the Season for the 1992/93 campaign.
It was a memorable season for Aston Villa, who came close to winning the inaugural Barclays Premier League title but lost the final three matches as Manchester United won the League by 10 points.
