Michael Laudrup got life as the new Swansea City manager off to the best possible start as his side thrashed Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Only eight minutes were on the clock when Michu struck the first goal of the Barclays Premier League season. The Spaniard collected a loose ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a low shot that Rob Green was unable to save.

Another Swansea debutant to make an important early impact was defender Chico, who cleared off the line after Michel Vorm fumbled a close-range Jamie Mackie shot. The Swansea goalkeeper then did better to save a shot from Adel Taarabt that was heading for the bottom corner.
