Wigan relegated after losing to Arsenal

Wigan's 4-1 loss to Arsenal sends them down; Man City beat Reading 2-0

Wigan Athletic have been relegated from the Barclays Premier League after losing 4-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The loss leaves Wigan, who won the FA Cup on Saturday, four points away from safety with one match left. Already relegated Reading and Queens Park Rangers will also play in the Championship next season.

Arsenal moved up to fourth place in the Premier League, thanks to two goals from Lukas Podolski and goals from Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey against Wigan. If they win their last match of the season they will finish above rivals Tottenham Hotspur and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City will now finish second in the league after beating Reading 2-0. Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko scored the goals.
