Sunderland suffer double injury blow

Sunderland's Steven Fletcher and Lee Cattermole out for the rest of the season

Steven Fletcher has scored 11 League goals for Sunderland this season

Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher and captain Lee Cattermole have both been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Fletcher injured his ankle while playing for Scotland in the FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifying tie with Wales on Friday night.

Fletcher, who joined Sunderland from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, is the club's top scorer this season with 11 goals.

Midfielder Cattermole had an operation on his knee on Wednesday and won't play again this season.

Sunderland are currently lying 15th in the League table, four points from the relegation zone with eight matches to go.
