Scott Parker has been one of Tottenham's stars this season

Star midfielder Scott Parker has been voted the best England player of 2011 by fans.

In an online poll, the Spurs man earned enough votes to finish top, beating Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, who was second and third-placed Manchester United winger Ashley Young.

Scott said: "It's a proud moment every time I pull on the England shirt.

"It's something I've always wanted to do, whenever I was playing outside, whenever I was playing at the park with my mates it was always England you try to emulate and try to be."
