St Michael's RC School scholars fourth winners of Premier League's business competition

St Michael's RC School celebrate their victory in the 2012 Enterprise Challenge final

Students from St Michael’s RC School in Billingham can look forward to a memorable trip to London after being crowned 2012 Premier League Enterprise Challenge champions.

The team of Olivia Shovlin, Amy Buck, Elish Chambers, Max Bover and Joe Buck, representing Middlesbrough Football Club, beat five other schools to come out on top in a highly competitive final at Westminster Conference Centre in London.

St Michael’s wowed the judges with their business plan, designed to improve matchday experience for supporters, which included setting up a smartphone app to offer ticketless sales, an interactive stadium map and an option for pre-ordering club merchandise.

Their prize will be a trip to London, where they will conduct a Q&A session with Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore at the Premier League's offices; visit Downing Street to meet Lord Young, who advises the Prime Minister on small business and enterprise; as well as having the special honour of opening the London Stock Exchange.

There were a host of distinguished guests in attendance, including former Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King, who said: "It's important to get that across to the kids, it doesn’t matter where you are from, if you put the hard work in, and you have got the will and the dedication, you really can achieve.”
