Allen ruled out for rest of season

Liverpool midfielder will miss the rest of the season with injured shoulder

Midfielder Joe Allen joined Liverpool from Swansea City last summer

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old Wales international had to be substituted at half-time of Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Southampton, and he will have surgery on the shoulder on Thursday.

Allen joined Liverpool from Swansea City last summer and has made 27 League appearances for the Reds.
