Manchester United's Robin van Persie scores the second goal against Everton on Sunday
Manchester United are 12 points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League after recording a 2-0 victory over Everton.
Goals from Ryan Giggs and striker Robin van Persie sealed the win for United at Old Trafford on Sunday, while closest rivals Manchester City dropped points when they were defeated 3-1 by Southampton on Saturday evening.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa moved out of the bottom three thanks to a 2-1 win over West Ham United, the goals coming from Christian Benteke and Charles N'Zogbia, while Chelsea and Swansea City recorded 4-1 wins over Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers.
