Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has won the Barclays Race for the Golden Boot "20-goal" Award after being the first player this season to reach 20 Barclays Premier League goals.

The striker surpassed the mark when scoring a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic last weekend, reaching 21 goals.

While Suarez admitted that he has the "in-born" instinct for goals he was grateful for the role that his Liverpool team-mates have played to help him, especially the additions made up front during the January transfer window with Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea and Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan.

"I want to highlight the progress the team have made," he said. "In the last few games we have started to play some excellent football and the work and the progress the lads have been making have really helped me."
