Rooney may miss start of Barclays Premier League season with hamstring injury

Wayne Rooney was with the Manchester United team in Asia

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has gone home from the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia early after getting injured.

Rooney has a hamstring injury and may miss the start of the Barclays Premier League season.

Man Utd manager David Moyes said: “We won't take any chances - there is no point in taking him any further round the world so we've sent him back and he'll get treatment."

Man Utd play Swansea in their first match of the new Premier League season on 18 August 2013.
