French defender pens one-year contract extension to stay at Goodison Park until 2014

Everton defender Sylvain Distin has made 114 League appearances for the club

Everton have announced that defender Sylvain Distin has signed a new one-year contract extension.

The 35-year-old has regularly played for the team since joining from Portsmouth in 2009 and has made 20 Barclays Premier League appearances this season.

His contract was set to run out at the end of this season but he has now committed his future to Goodison Park until 2014.

Distin has previously played for Paris St-Germain, Newcastle United and Manchester City, and has made a total of 114 League appearances during his time at Everton.
